🧪 Freedom Formulas

I used to see other women as competition.

There, I said it.

After graduating from high school, I was set on pursuing a career in sports journalism. It’s a notoriously difficult field to get into.

Even more difficult for women because in order for us to be taken seriously in such a male-dominated space, you have to be good. Really good.

When you’re a minority, you’re held to different standards. And if you don’t want to go out for a beer with “the boys” or laugh at their - oftentimes subtle but still inappropriate, sexist - jokes, you already lost.

So when you’re used to being the only or one of very few women in these types of environments and you know that the further you progress in your career, the fewer spots will be available for someone like you, you automatically start asking yourself “What if they like her more than they like me?”

I hated having that mindset.

It took a few years for me to shift my perspective and learn that “When she wins, I win.”

Today, my purpose in life is to be a cheerleader for other women.

And I love nothing more than helping women become their own best advocates when it comes to their money and career.

I see the power in bonding over shared experiences, the good and the bad ones, and how we women can leverage this power to promote sustainable change for future generations of women.

When women stick together, when we collaborate, when we give each other those much needed pep talks, when we recommend each other for opportunities, when we amplify each other's work, MAGIC happens.

Today, I don’t see women as my competition. Today, they’re my sisters, my role models, my mentors, my sponsors, my amplifiers, my safe space, my biggest inspiration.

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate to be invited to a curated dinner experience for an intimate group of trailblazing thought leaders and creators.

We each got the opportunity to share a "give" (e.g. lending our expertise, making intros, amplifying others' work) and ask for a "get" (e.g. platform advice, monetization opps, mentorship, collabs).

I was in awe when I learned about all the incredible things these powerhouse women are working on.

And when one of us wins, we all win.
